was made and seconded to approve the Treasurer's report.
New members Dennis Hayes and Dan White were introduced. Dan
White has agreed to accept the responsibility of publishing
the Beacon Newsletter. Dan had been helping Gil Maringer with
the newsletter in the past and is familiar with the format.
News articles and information can be sent to Dan by e-mail
at dan@lorainohio.net. The next issue of the Beacon is scheduled
for publication in early June before the show season. Dennis
Hayes offered to help with upcoming NCO events. I am sure
his services will be welcomed.
Discussion of NCO participation in future I-X Boat Shows
was discussed. Les thanked all members who participated in
the January show but if we continue to do this event he is
hoping to see more boats. Les will continue to take charge
of this event and will ask Jim Bassett to help providing this
his ACBS/NCO membership is current.
Coming Events:
Flyers for the April 24 Workshop will be mailed to all members
in the next week. Members attending will be asked to pay a
$5.00 fee which will cover the cost of the lunch. Cliff Wolfe
was authorized to spend up to $75.00 for door prizes. Flyers
will be sent to the Presidents of the Allegheny and Buckeye
Chapters to be circulated among their members.
Plans for the Annual Rendezvouz at Turkeyfoot Island Club
on June 5 are set. Jack Lynett, Chairman will be in charge
of mailing out the letter for food donations for this event.
Les Demaline, Chairman of the Vermilion Boat Show on June
26 is having the registration forms printed. Cliff is working
on the show posters and Les is contacting vendors for program
donations. The Admiral Perry Antique Car Club will be participating
in this event again this year.
Walt Stashkiw,Chairman of the 4th of July Show at Portage
Lakes reported that he had attended a meeting of the Historical
Society at Portage Lakes and requested they contribute $350.00
for the July 4th Boat Show if they are to be a co-sponsor
of this event. The money will be used for additional awards
to be given to show participants. Walt will attend their March
meeting to confirm their part in this show. He will be making
contacts for sponsors. The show will be at the Harbor Inn
from 9:00AM to 2:00 PM.
On June 29th a charity auction will be held at the Turkeyfoot
Island Club. While this is not an NCO sanctioned event some
of the NCO members who live on Portage Lakes have formed a
group of 4 or 5 boats that will offer boat rides as part of
the Charity Auction sponsored by Rebuilding Together.
The Chautauqua Lake Show is scheduled for July 17 and 18
in New York. Gil Maringer, Chairman announced that the show
flyers are already printed and Cliff Wolfe showed a draft
of the Show poster which is being printed for this event.
The picture used on the poster was taken by NCO member Don
Emery.
Bill Hunter will be coordinating the annual show at the Turkey
Foot Island Club on August 21.
Membership Chairman, John Vorhies announced that there are
133 members currently on the NCO roster. There are still some
members from northern OHIO who only join the ACBS. He passed
out the list and asked members who might know any of those
listed to contact them to see if they would agree to join
NCO also. John asked if he should continue to reimburse the
junior members for their annual dues paid. There are currently
2 junior members. It was moved and seconded by Gil Maringer
and Cliff Wolfe that NCO continue to reimburse Junior members
the amount of the ACBS and NCO dues until they reach the age
of 19. Motion carried.
John Vorhies heartily concurred with the Audit Committee
report that was presented at the February meeting. He developed
and passed out to the members the new Check Request form.
This form will have to be completed and attached to all invoices
that are turned into the Treasurer for payment. This will
provide a much better system of identifying expenses and will
provide good accountability for the club's records.
Les suggested that Event Chairman provide a Profit and Loss
Summary for each activity to the Treasurer for accounting
purposes.
Ray McFarland had some questions for Les about the design
of the keel and rudder for the sail boat kits he is building
for the Vermilion contest. Larry Prebis and Cliff Wolfe are
assisting Ray with this project.
Dan White presented a viewing of the web page he has been
working on for NCO. Members were quite excited with it and
quickly discussed all the ways we can use it for communication.
Everyone agreed that we should proceed with this project provided
that it stays within the budget that was presented to Jack,
The final approval will be discussed upon President Jack Lynett's
return at the next meeting.
Members were once again reminded about the ACBS Annual Show
and Meeting at Lake Lanier, GA in September. It is hoped that
several NCO members will attend and Denny Naylon is looking
for a way for interested parties to travel together to the
show.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at
8:50 PM. The next meeting was set for Monday, April 5 at Dimitri's
Restaurant.
Respectflully submitted,
Marilyn Demaline, Secretary
