MINUTES OF NORTH COAST OHIO MEETING
April 6, 2009

Minutes of the regular meeting of the Officers and Directors of the North Coast Ohio Chapter of The Antique and Classic Boat Society Inc., held April 6, 2009 at Dimitri’s Restaurant, Parma Ohio.

Present were Walt Stashkiw President, Jeremy Goldstein VP, John Vorhies Treasurer and Jack Lynett Secretary along with Directors Dave Williams, Gil Maringer, Don Emery, Eric West, Ray McFarland, Cliff Wolfe, Bill Hunter, Les Demaline and Marilyn Demaline. Guests included Mary Emery, Rosie McFarland and Tim Rash.

President Walt Stashkiw called the meeting to order. John Vorhies reported on the state of the treasury and the renewal rate of membership for the coming year. NCO has 91 renewals with 15 members from last year not renewing. Those rates compare to the international organization. John reported that sending letters to the Chris Craft club members in our area did not result in any new members. Neither did the display at the IX show result in any new members.

Gil Maringer reported in the workshop held last Saturday. It was a smashing success with Ken Warby, holder of the world’s record for the fastest speed on water being the main speaker. Forty nine people attended and after expenses and income were compared, the net cost to the Chapter was $313.00.

Jack reported that the Rendezvous is in schedule and notices will go out to the members around the 15th of April. Each officer and director will get a food assignment and those notices will be in the mail. Bill and Gail Turner will be our guests and plans are being considered to perhaps have a fish fry on Friday and a brunch on Sunday before they leave.

Walt presented the assignments for the Portage Lakes show, which is June 27th.
The following committee chairpersons were appointed: Joe Nemes, Awards: Jack Lynett Insurance: Gil Maringer Judging: Walt Stashkiw Participant packets: Posters Cliff Wolfe: John and Kim Vorhies Registration: Bud and Ginger Long Solicitations: Eric and Julie West, Banquet, Lucy Hunter Publicity: Launch Ramp Bill Hunter and Joe Hodges and Cliff Wolfe will arrange the Tee-shirts. The use of Mud Lake for the photo-shoot was discussed and Bill Hunter reported the State of Ohio and the Summit County Sheriff are aware of our use of the lake and will co-operate with us.

A discussion followed concerning other summer events. Jack reminded the Board of the ACBS quarterly meeting on June 20 at St. Michaels and the fact that he and the Hunters and the Demalines planned on attending. That event is on the same day as Buckeye Lake. Chautauqua is scheduled for July12 and the annual meeting of ACBS at Gravenhurst was discussed.

The issue of NCO hosting an international annual meeting was discussed. The issue was divided into two issues, ie should we do an annual meeting or a quarterly meeting? A straw vote was taken and 9 members present preferred a quarterly meeting while 2 voted for an annual meeting. It was MOVED, SECONDED and PASSED that a committee headed by Marilyn Demaline would explore the details of a quarterly meeting and report back to the board. Also on her committee were named Walt Stashkiw, Gil Maringer, Cliff Wolfe and Don Emery.

A discussion was held concerning the Chapter logo and the purchase of shirts and caps. Cliff showed some samples and a choice was made on the shirt style with the logo issue and cap design to be explored further.

On MOTION the meeting adjourned at 8:30PM

Respectfully submitted

Jack Lynett
Secretary
