MINUTES OF NORTH COAST OHIO MEETING
Monday, May 3, 2004
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM by President,
Jack Lynett, at Dimitri's Restaurant on Snow Road in Parma.
Present for the meeting was Treasurer, John Vorhies; Secretary,
Marilyn Demaline; Past President, Gil Maringer; Directors,
John Herwick, Bill Hunter, Ray McFarland, Cliff Wolfe, Les
Demaline, Walt Stashkiw, and Don Emery; and members, Dan White,
Rose McFarland, Sy Lynett, and Mary Emery.
The first order of business called for the acceptance of
the April minutes. Cliff Wolfe called for acceptance of minutes
as corrected for the misspelling of his last name (from Wolff
to Wolfe).
John Vorhies reported that our paid memberships now totals
120. The newest member, Bill Baldwin, is from Raleigh, NC.
The treasury balance is $6934.00.
The annual Rendezvous at Turkey Foot Island Club on June
5 will be supervised by Bill Hunter in the absence of Jack
Lynett. As in the past, Board members will be asked to bring
food and beverages and the club will purchase hot dogs and
hamburgers. Members bringing boats will be able to participate
in a Poker Run and the winning boat crew will receive $50.00.
Those persons who would like to stay at the TFI Club overnight
can call for reservations (440-644-7797).
Les Demaline reported that the posters for the Vermilion
Boat Show on June 26 are ready and will be placed around the
town in the next two weeks. He has received a sponsorship
from an individual for $500.00 to help with the program and
the Kid's Sail Boat Race. The Antique Car Club expects to
have at least 25 cars on display and there is dockage for
at least 30 boats. Ads have been placed in the Vermilion Photo
Journal and Parson's Marina will once again offer paddle boat
rides to the Sail Boat participants
Gil Maringer reported that the charity event previously scheduled
at the Turkey Foot Island Club on June 29 may not be held
this year due to a change in the administration of the Rebuilding
Together organization.
Gil, Chairman of the Chautauqua Lake Show, reported that
he has already received boat registrations for the July 17
Show. The Holiday Harbor Marina was recently sold, but the
show will proceed as planned. Sponsors for this show are being
actively pursued.
Ray McFarland was commended for the Work Shop that was held
at his place in April. Ray, Cliff Wolfe, and Gary Kosiba covered
several topics used in boat restoration. 41 persons attended
this function on a beautiful spring day. Receipts for the
Workshop totaled $205.00 with expenses adding up to $333.00.
Ray also completed 50 sail boat kits at a cost of $57.00 for
the contest at Vermilion.
Jack reported on the ACBS Chapter Roundtable and Quarterly
Meeting in Houston, TX. Chapters shared various ideas for
workshops. Some chapters are considering programs to teach
women how to operate boats. The new ACBS directories have
just been mailed to the members. The major topic of business
discussed was a proposal to limit the ACBS President's term
to one year. The members present voted to change the proposal
to limit the term to two year's with 2 elected vice-presidents
to provide the succession to the President's position. This
proposal will be returned to the Constitution and By-Laws
Committee to re-write and present to the Board of Directors
and members at the Summer Meeting in Lake Hopatcong in New
Jersey.
Dan White is busily working on the Spring issue of The
Beacon with plans to publish this month. While there will
be a new look to the publication, members voted to leave the
size of the newsletter the same -- 8 ½ by 11. The Web
Page has been well-received and will be presented to all members
in The Beacon. The NCO meeting minutes will be published on
the Web Page following each meeting.
Bill Hunter will do business cards for Officers and Directors,
but will wait to do this until after the NCO Logo has been
reworked.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, October
4 at Dimitri's at 6:00 PM.
Bill Hunter called for the meeting to adjourn at 9:00 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn Demaline, Secretary
