MINUTES OF NORTH COAST OHIO MEETING
May 3, 2010
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Officers and Directors of the North Coast Ohio Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, held May 3, 2010, at Dimitri’s restaurant, Parma Ohio.
In the absence of President Walt Stashkiw, the meeting was called to Order at 6:30 by Vice-President Jeremy Goldstein. Present were: Treasurer John Vorhies, Secretary Jack Lynett and Past President Greg Glick and Directors Les and Marilyn Demaline, Bill Hunter, Ray McFarland, Cliff Wolfe, Sylvia Chappell, Bud Long, Don Emery, Dave Williams, Joe Nemes and Gil Maringer. In addition guests Lucy Hunter,Mary Emery and Rose McFarland were present.
On MOTION the minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
John Vorhies reported on the current status of the treasury and the fact that our membership now stood at 87 members. It is anticipated that additional new members will be obtained this summer at the various events.
Bud Long reported on the “road trip” this weekend to the car museum. It was mentioned that on June 13, the MAPPS museum at Akron-Canton Air Port will be holding an open house and show and a flyer was passed around for the members to view.
Jack reported that the Rendezvous was on schedule and assignments were handed out to the officers and directors to supply the food items.
In the absence of Walt Stashkiw, a multi-part discussion was held concerning the coming Portage Lakes show on June 26. Lucy Hunter reported on the items of publicity she has been working on, and the hope of Robin Swoboda of Cleveland coming. A discussion followed concerning shirts, and Bud Long reported he will again obtain shirts to give to those sponsors who help NCO underwrite the costs. A discussion followed concerning the show poster, and it was decided to await Walt’s return before a decision was made on the framing of some posters for gifts and prizes. Gil will talk with Walt.
Joe Nemes passed around the aluminum disk and a drawing that will be the award plaque this year.
A discussion was held concerning the “tall ships” coming to Cleveland this year. Jeremy indicated we have been invited to participate, and the opportunity it presents to showcase our chapter, and perhaps obtain membership. Jack indicated he could bring the Dippy for a land display and Bill Hunter volunteered to help during the show which runs July 8 thru July 11 this year.
Dave Williams reported on the Judging class which was held at Chautauqua for the Twin Tier Chapter and the success that it had. Dave has written an article for the next Beacon. Jack reminded the Board that a vacancy exists in the office of Editor of the Beacon.
Les pointed out that the Lakeside show on July 18 is always a lot of fun and that he and Marilyn will be bringing a boat again this year. Others were encouraged to do likewise.
The annual meeting was discussed, and Don Emery indicated that the Yacht Club was secured for this year and he and Mary would again provide “decadent” desserts.
On MOTION the meeting was adjourned at 7:45.
