The meeting was called to order at 6:50 PM by President Jack
Lynett at Dimitri's Restaurant In Parma. Present for this
meeting was President, Jack Lynett; Vice-President, Denny
Naylon; Treasurer, John Vorhies; Secretary, Marilyn Demaline;
Past President, Gil Maringer; Directors, Bill Hunter, Ray

Lynett, and Dan White.
John Vorhies reported the treasury balance to be $10,700.00.
Our membership totals 129 as compared to 122 in 2003.
The season's boat shows and events were reviewed.
The June Rendezvous held at Turkeyfoot Island Club was a
success and consideration is being given to returning to the
same location in 2005.
Les Demaline reported that the Vermilion Boat Show registered
24 boats in the water with 6 boats on land. There were 26
classic and antique cars on display. And 41 kids from ages
4 to 13 entered the painting and sailboat contest. This show
generated a profit on $2086.00. The 2005 Show is set for June
Walt Stashkiw reported that 23 boats entered the 4th of July
Show at Portage Lakes. Of these, 10 boats were entered at
this show for the first time. Walt did a survey of those persons
who entered this show over the past 3 years. The majority
of responses favored a Saturday Show near the 4th of July,
but not on the 4th. They also favored the half-day show. The
2004 Show had a profit of $4.32. This show will be on July
2 in 2005
Gil Maringer, Show Chairman of the Chautauqua Show reported
a total of 35 boat registrations for this Show and the event
rated an article in the Brass Bell. A net profit of $225.89
was realized. A tentative date of July 16 has been set for
the 2005 Show. This date will be finalized once Gil has determined
there will not be a conflict with other shows in the immediate
area. There is also a chance that some NCO members living
in the Lake Chautauqua area may consider chairing this show
in the future.
Jack Lynett then gave a report on the Annual ACBS Meeting
and Boat Show held at Lake Lanier, Georgia in September. In
spite of being hit by the remnants of Hurricane Ivan, the
show did go on with a reduced number of boat entries. Jack
announced that NCO Founder and Past-President, Les Demaline
received the May Herwig Award. This ACBS award is given annually
to a member who, through activities at the chapter level,
has contributed broadly toward enhancing and furthering the
aims and objectives of antique and classic boating. Our newsletter,
The Beacon, was first runner-up for the "most improved"
newsletter of our size.
The next issue of The Beacon will be published just prior
to, or immediately after, the Annual Meeting in December.
This will be determined by President Lynett and Editor, Dan
White. Dan also announced that to allow enough room for pictures
and all information, he would appreciate it if special articles
could be kept at 700 words and regular articles be approximately
500 words in length.
The following new business was discussed.
Project to repair the docks at the Manchester Road launch
ramps at Portage Lakes was introduced by Gil Mariner. Many
members used these ramps this summer and recognized the danger
to our wooden boats that could be caused by the old bolts
that extends beyond the edge of the docks. Gil talked with
the Park Ranger who is in charge of this facility and found
that were welcome to accept our volunteer help to upgrade
the docks and remove the dangers It was moved by Don Emery
and Seconded by Eric West that we spend up to $2000.00 to
complete this project. The time is at hand now to do the repairs
because the lake will be lowered on October 18 and there will
be a 30-day period that this work could be completed. The
club will purchase the materials to do this and will use volunteer
help of the club members. If necessary, group can consult
with a contractor
Don and Mary Emery reported on the Annual Meeting. This year
we will hold our meeting at the Edgewater Yacht Club on December
11, 2004. The members voted to have a sit-down dinner and
to allocate the amount of $300.00 from the club treasury for
hors d'oeuvres.
