a slate of officers to be voted on at the annual meeting in

V. President.....Walt Stashkiw
Secretary..........Jack Lynett
Treasurer..........John Vorhies
Directors for 3 - year term (2006-2009)

Jeremy Goldstein
Bill Hunter made a motion to accept the nominations as presented;
seconded by Ray McFarland. Because Jack Lynett has accepted
the nomination for the Board Position of Secretary, it was
moved and accepted that Gil Maringer remain on the Board as
the Past President/Director for 2006. A notice will be sent
to all NCO members announcing the slate of officers for 2006
along with the details of the annual meeting which will be
on December 3, 2005 at the Edgewater Yacht Club. As members
of Edgewater, Don and Mary Emery will co-chair the annual
event. The Board voted to have the same entrees that were
offered on last year's menu. NCO has agreed to pay for the
hors d'oeuvres. Eric West offered to work with the Emery's
to finalize the menu and help with the ordering of the hors
d'oeuvres for the evening's event. Cliff Wolfe made a motion
to accept Eric West's offer. Motion was seconded by Bill Hunter
and passed by the Board. The Board agreed to not have a speaker
for the evening, but will invite the new ACBS President, Jeff
Rogers to attend as a guest of NCO. We will pay for the cost
of overnight accommodations and the banquet meal. We will
also hold a Silent Auction. Board members are asked to bring
items to contribute to the auction. Don Emery will set up
a continuous slide show of 2005 boating events that will run
throughout the evening. Jack Lynett will publish the Annual
Meeting Notices and mail to all NCO members.
Les Demaline introduced Jim Bassett who has agreed to run
the show at the IX Center from January 13-27, 2006. The Board
agreed to continue the IX show since it offers us the opportunity
to educate the public about our hobby and the preservation
of antique and classic wood boats. Members who are interested
in displaying their boats at the show are requested to contact
Jim Bassett.
The Board agreed to continue sponsoring the annual Rendezvouz
at the Turkeyfoot Island Club. Members would like to continue
having this event catered. Further information will be forthcoming
after the election of officers for 2006.
The Club will look at alternatives to replace the Vermilion
Show. Consideration will be given to moving to Lyman Harbor
in Sandusky if a date is available.
Gil Maringer would like to encourage NCO members in the Lake
Chautauqua area to assume responsibility for that show. Jack
will send letters to those members in New York to determine
if there is an interest in taking over this show.
The Portage Lake Fourth of July Show will proceed for 2006.
Comments were shared among the Board members that 2006 might
be a good year for NCO members to attend some ACBS Boat Shows
in other areas outside the North Coast of Ohio. It is a great
opportunity to see new places and meet new faces.
There was discussion on the future of the Beacon Newsletter
and whether we should continue it in its current format or
consider jobbing it out to a third party. President- Elect
Greg Glick will review options for publishing a special Boat
Show edition for the I-X Show and will look at costs of adding
such things as colored photos and the number of editions to
be published each year. We will also review newsletters published
by other chapters for new ideas and formats.
Jack Lynett announced that ACBS member Jim Shotwell is now
offering for sale Chris Craft kit boats, an item that was
offered by Chris Craft in the 1950's. As a chapter that has
been active in promoting youth membership and involvement,
it is possible that NCO may be offered a kit free of charge.
Cliff Wolfe and Bill Hunter moved that we accept such a gift,
if it is offered.
The meeting adjourned at 9:25 PM. The next meeting will be
at Anthe's Restaurant in Portage Lakes on Monday, November
7, 2005 at 6:00 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn Demaline, Secretary
