was made to accept the minutes of the October meeting by Bill
Hunter, seconded by Gil Maringer.
Jack also had the 2006 NCO calendars available for sale at
$20.00 each.
Treasurer John Vorhies reported a balance of $9378.00 in the
check book. As Membership Chairman, John reported that our
current membership remains at 122. John reported that there
were several ACBS members in the current Membership Roster
who reside in northeast Ohio that had not declared membership
in a local chapter. He wrote letters to those members inviting
them to consider joining the North Coast Chapter as their
local chapter.
Jack reported that the notices had been mailed for the Annual
Meeting to be held on December 3 at the Edgewater Yacht Club.
The annual awards have been ordered and will be ready to present
at the meeting. He has invited the ACBS President, Jeff Rogers
and ACBS Director Ted Grulikowski and his wife to be our guests
at the annual meeting. The club will pay for their dinners
and provide a gift bag to them. There will be no formal program,
but Don Emery will set up a video to provide a continuous
show of 2005 boating events. Members will donate items for
a Silent Auction. Jack reminded President-elect, Greg Glick
that he will be able to appoint up to 5 members to serve as
Directors-At-Large for the year, 2006. He should also arrange
to have 2 members audit the treasurer's books prior to the
first meeting in January.
Bill Hunter reported on the Varnish Project he started in
May, 2005. He had applied 4 different varnishes to 4 boards
and set them up outside to test their exposure to the elements.
He recently moved the boards inside for the winter and reported
that there was no degradation of gloss to any of the boards
at the end of the 1st season. He will return the test boards
outside in May, 2006 and continue to monitor.
Les Demaline reported that Jim Bassett will chair the IX
Show. He asked members to get in touch with Jim about displaying
boats. Once again, NCO members will be asked to volunteer
to help chair the booth during the show. Show dates are January
13-22. There may be some Lymans, 2 Chris Craft kit boats,
and newly restored Century Coronado available for display.
Arrangements will be made to finalize the entries. Jack will
see that the NCO banners we purchased last year get to Les
for the show.
Gil Maringer reported that letters were sent to 6 contacts
at Lake Chautauqua requesting they find a local person to
take over this show. Results of this will be reported at a
future meeting.
John Vorhies reported that he recently received a letter
requesting NCO members to bring their boats to a show at the
Port Authority Marina in Conneaut. There was no date given
so we will await further information on this show.
The Rendezvouz will be on June 3, subject to availability
of Turkey Foot Island Club.
Portage Lakes Show will be on July 1at The Harbor. An awards
dinner may be held after the show at Turkey Foot Island Club,
if available.
Eric West suggested that NCO form a group to attend the ACBS
Annual Show and Meeting at Lake Tahoe in September. This,
too, will be discussed at a future meeting.
Following the business meeting a movie of the 1947 Boat Races
that were held on Portage Lakes was shown by Bill Hunter.
The meeting adjourned at 9:05 PM. Next meeting will be on
December 3 at Edgewater Yacht Club.
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn Demaline, Secretary
