MINUTES OF NORTH COAST OHIO MEETING
Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007

Minutes of the ANNUAL MEETING of the membership of North Coast Ohio Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society Inc., held on December 8th 2007 at the Edgewater Yacht Club, Cleveland Ohio.

After cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and a beautiful buffet dinner of chicken, beef and fish, President Greg Glick called the brief business meeting to order.

Greg introduced our distinguished guest, Commodore Mike Lloyd of the Lyman Boat Owners Association and his lovely wife Kim.

A quorum being present, Greg called for brief reports. John Vorhies reported that the Treasury is equal to what it was at the last annual meeting, and that in the past year, membership has held steady, despite the formation of two chapters on our east and west borders.

Greg announced that no additional nominations had been received, and he therefore called for a MOTION to direct the Secretary to cast a unanimous ballot for the slate of officers and directors. The motion was made, SECONDED and PASSED.

Congratulations to the officers and directors that were elected:

Walt Stashkiw, President to January 2009
Jeremy Goldstein, Vice-President to January 2009
John Vorhies, Treasurer to January 2009
Jack Lynett, Secretary to January 2009
Bill Hunter, Director to January 2011
Les Demaline, Director to January 2011
Gil Maringer, Director to January 2011.

The program moved to the “Awards” presentations with President Glick awarding the John Smith Award to Lucy Hunter. Greg explained that John Smith was a charter member of NCO and was active in many volunteer groups outside the boating world, to include the Brecksville School District. Lucy was honored for her volunteer work with the Agency on Aging and her many hours of work in the community.

The President’s Cup went to Jack Lynett for his work on the NCO Beacon and preparation of the notices and ballots for the annual meeting.

As is often the case, the highlight of the evening came with the presentation of the “Golden Hose Clamp” award, given to the NCO member who has encountered the most difficult event during the past year. While there have been persons who have “earned” the award multiple times, this is the first year the award has been given “back-to-back” to the same person. Bud Long was again honored this year, and presented with an “emergency pack” to include a spare steering wheel should his wheel come off again.

The silent auction brought many fine items to include an “all chocolate basket” from Greg and Nancy Glick and the traditional brussels sprouts Christmas tree from Les Demaline. This year Don Emery provided enlarged photographs of boats for sale, with the proceeds going to the Chapter treasury. John Vorhies conducted the auction which netted the treasury almost $700.00 and with the sale of all of the 2008 NCO calendars an additional $132.00 went back to the Chapter to make the calendar project a break-even activity.

Many thanks to Don and Mary Emery for the use of their club and for providing transportation to our guests.

On MOTION the meeting adjourned.

Jack Lynett
Secretary
